At World Whiskies Awards 2024 it was a clean sweep in all categories we could enter with our Single Malt.

4 times Category winners - and best Danish in these categories, and one of the went all the way to "Worlds best"

Our New spirit - became best Danish, and today it is also still the highest rated New Spirit in Jim Murrays Whisky bible - so, attention to details matters.

Not much explanation needed - simply selected and awarded as Worlds Best Single Malt Whisky 2024 at World Whiskies Awards in the small batch category...

Shows exactly what Mosgaard cask work is all about - aged in carefully selected rebuilt quarter casks from Ex. Bourbon, before a second ageing in Moscatel casks with a little saline touch. Aged 6 years - and doing it right you can create a "Worlds Best" in this time.

Tasting notes I will leave to WWA:

"Woody bonfire smoke and caramel notes on the nose. The palate brings more wood smoke, along with black pepper, caramel, berries, creamy vanilla, candied orange, and Brazil nut, with a subtle bitter herbal undertone."

Single malt whisky matured in quarter casks built from Ex. Oloroso Sherry casks, which previously have matured fine Oloroso Sherry for 10-30 years – intense grist and fruity notes from our New Spirit with elegance and sweetness.

Port cask Whisky is dark and intense, vinous with Spicy sweetness – our newest Whisky

The casks are our secret – built from two types of old Port Wine casks. We mix staves from both Ruby and Tawny in our casks, which means our Port Cask whisky matures in balance with vinous notes from Ruby meeting spicy and sweetness from Tawny

Palo Cortado Cask is the latest addition to the Mosgaard series, matured in our bespoke casks. The journey of the whisky starts with medium toasted casks built from American white oak. They have been seasoned with a Mosgaard made Palo Cortado sherry for 1,5 years before the ageing of whisky starts – so everything is in control. The mythic Palo Cortado Whisky comes alive with scents of bitter orange and lemongrass at the higher ABV than other Sherry whiskies.

Peated Single malt whisky double matured. First matured in French oak casks giving lovely tannins balanced with a cask finish in Ex-bourbon quarter casks giving almond vanilla smoothness to balance the peat smoke.

Intense grist, peat smoke – heather and tar. Vanilla, creamy toffee, green apples, honey, almonds and burned figs.

Beside our classic range we also challenge ourselves in how Whisky also can be expressed - and our Single Cask Black Peat impressed Jim Murray so much that it was selected as best European Whisky 2023.

Black Peat is first stored at Ex. Bourbon quarter casks for approx. 3.5-4 years - very traditional, and it gives an almond vanilla sweetness that makes the smoke calm down a bit.

After this, we rock the boat and store another 9-12 months in virgin Hungarian oak - previously we used French oak, but now we have some new casks where a few of them give something very special. The whisky becomes completely black with tannins, and normally the amount of tannins will be overwhelming, but in combination with the smoke they can do something very special.
